In the countdown to the release of its highly anticipated Vision Pro, Apple has begun training its staff on the $3,499 mixed-reality headset.

Unveiled in June, the Vision Pro marks Apple’s first major new product line for nearly a decade. According to a Bloomberg report by Apple tipster Mark, seminars for Apple Store staff are slated to commence in January.

Each store in the US is reportedly sending “a few” members for a two-day training session at Apple’s Cupertino, California headquarters. The goal is clear: equipping staff with the knowledge to present and demonstrate the Vision Pro effectively.

Gurman highlights the high stakes involved in this training, citing the complexity of the Vision Pro’s setup process. Calibration for each user is paramount, making the initial moments with the device pivotal in influencing potential buyers.

Apple is understandably keen to ensure a seamless experience for users, recognising that a flawless introduction could impact the decision to purchase the headset that represents quite a significant investment for most people.

While online orders will be an option for Vision Pro, Gurman suggests that customers might be encouraged to collect their purchase in-store. This strategy aims to offer buyers a hands-on demonstration; providing a tangible and immersive experience with the mixed-reality headset.

The Vision Pro – Apple’s first major product launch since the Apple Watch in 2015 – is slated to reach customers in Q1 2024.

Although initial reports hinted at a January shipping date for the Vision Pro, the absence of official confirmation and the upcoming staff training in February suggest a more realistic timeframe of February or March for the headset’s market debut.
