Payments solution provider Square has launched a new SDK enabling developers to easily integrate support for in-app payments.
With minimal coding, the SDK promises to enable accepting and storing credit card details for checkout purposes. Support for Google Pay and Apple Pay is even included for added convenience.
Carl Perry, Developer Lead at Square, said:

From software to hardware to services, Square offers a complete payments experience all in one cohesive open platform. Even better, developers and sellers can manage all their payments across in-store, mobile and online all in one place.”
The SDK was designed to provide a seamless and ‘beautiful’ user experience. The interface can be used in its default state or developers can entirely customise it to match the look and feel of their apps.
One company which has been involved with beta-testing Square’s new SDK is PepperHQ, a firm which specialises in creating apps for the hospitality industry.
Adam Robinson, Chief Product Officer at PepperHQ, commented:
“With this SDK, Square took care of a lot of the heavy lifting of storing card information, processing transactions and more. Using Square for payments alongside sending pickup orders for fulfilment into Square’s Point of Sale, reduces complexity, and means that Pepper can implement apps quicker, with less fuss for merchants.
The Square In-App Payments SDK is a slicker implementation than other options in the market and felt frictionless from the beginning. We were able to customise the look and feel of the flow so that it looks the way our clients want but still feels native to the app so it’s trustworthy and honest.”
Square says its solution is fully PCI compliant to provide some peace of mind it meets high security standards.
The In-App Payments SDK supports Android, iOS, and Flutter. It’s available now in the United States, Canada, UK, Australia, and Japan.
